Let x be the amount invested by B.
Then A invested , according to the condition.

The total profit equation is 

 = 3600  --->   = 3600  --->  x =  = 2160.


Answer.  B should receive 2160 dollars.   A should receive 3600 - 2160 = 1440 dollars.
