I tried setting up a formula
A= 78+ (0.13x)
so A= 338,
338=78+(0.13x)
is this the right way? If not, how do I proceed with the question? Thank you in advance for your help.

What you have done is exactly correct.

Solve the problem by getting rid of the 78 on the right side. Do that by subtracting
78 from both sides. On the left side you will have 338 - 78 = 260 and on the right side you
will be left with just 0.13x

Then you can solve for x by dividing both sides by 0.13

On the left side you will have 260/0.13 and on the right side you will be left with just x.

So the amount of the sales (represented by x) will be equal to the answer you get when you
