In an imaginary salary of 100 rupees he would save 8 rupees.
Let's call the salary "x", of which he saves 2880 rupees.
Since the amounts are proportional, it will be:
100/x = 8/2880 -->
x*8 = 100*2880 -->
x = 288000/8 = 36000 rupees.
