if you receive 2200 in dividends and the interest rate is 3.5%, then you know that your total investment is worth 2200/.035 = 62857.14286.

you do not know how many share you have.

that depends on the price per share.

you would take the total investment and divide it by the price per share and that would tell you the number of shares that you have.
