Hi there,
Make new comics = x
Old comics = y
3x + 4y = 1125.......(1)
3x + 10y = 1575......(2)
Subtract (1) from (2)
.....6y = 450
.....y = 450/6
.....y = 75
Substitute y = 75
into (1)
3x + 4y = 1125.......(1)
3x + 4(75) = 1125
3x = 1125 - 300
3x = 825
x = 825/3
x = 275
New comic book = $2.75
Old comic books = $0.75
Hope this helps :-)
