Question 1009370: Admissions prices at a high school football game were $6 for adults and $2 for children. The total value of the tickets sold was $2528, and 454 tickets were sold. How many adult and how many child tickets were sold?
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call the prices for adult and children's tickets, a and c. Then we have
a + c = 454 and the value equation is
6a + 2c = 2528
Let's double the first one and subtract from the second equation and get
6a + 2c = 2528
-(2a + 2c = 908)
------------------
4a = 1620
a = 405 adult tix
c = 49 children's tix
