Question 808693: On Tuesdays, Mr. Cansetti walks from his home, located at one end of
Main Street, to the grocery store at the other end of Main Street. On his way
down Main Street, he passes the post office and the police station, in that order.
Mr. Cansetti’s home is 7.5 blocks from to the police station. The post office is
6 blocks from the grocery store and 3.5 blocks from the police station. How
many blocks does Mr. Cansetti walk from his home to the grocery store?

Answer by KMST(5328)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

When Mr. Cansetti reaches the Police Station,
he has walked 7.5 blocks from his home,
and has passed the Post Office.
The Post office is 3.5 blocks behind him,
so the Post office is blocks from Mr. Cansetti's home.
So, when Mr Cansetti had reached the Post office, he had walked 4.0 blocks.
Since the Store is blocks from the Post Office,
after walking 4.0 blocks and reaching the Post office,
Mr. Cansetti had to walk 6.0 more blocks to get to the store, for a total of
blocks.
