Question 755604: How do I set up the equation for the following word problem?
Five Sodas cost as much as two hamburgers. Eduardo bought four sodas and two hamburgers for $27. How much does each hamburger & each soda cost?
My attempt to solve:
x = cost of 1 soda; y = cost of 1 hamburger; 5x = 2y
4x + 2y = 27
I am stuck here because I cannot make a trinomial, how do I proceed?
Answer by Gogonati(855) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the system:
5x-2y=0
4x+2y=27 => 9x=27 => x=3 and 2y=15 => y=7,5.
