Use this in eq. 2,
0.50x%2B0.2%289-x%29=3.75
0.50x%2B1.8-0.2x=3.75
0.30x%2B1.8=3.75
0.30x=+1.95
x=1.95%2F0.30

Now use the substitution again,
y=9-x
y=9-6.5
