Cost of 8 tickets = 8*f = 8f
Balcony seats = b
Cost of 6 Balcony seats = b = 6*b = 6b
Given
Floor seats + Balcony seats = Total tickets sold
f + b = 72
f=72-b ...............(1)
Amount of tickets sold = Cost of 8 tickets + Cost of 6 Balcony seats
516=8f+6b ...........(2)
Put the value of f from (1) to (2)
516=8(72-b)+6b
516=576-8b+6b
516-576=-2b
-30=-2b
Divide by (-2) both sides of the equation
-30/-2=-2b/-2
30=b
b=30
Put the value of b in (1)
f=72-b ...............(1)
f=72-30
f=42
Floor seats tickets = f = 8
Cost of 8 tickets = 8*f = 8f = 8*42 = $336
Balcony seats tickets = 30
Cost of 6 Balcony seats = b = 6*b = 6b=6*30=$180
