A store mixes Brazilian coffee worth $10 per kilogram and Turkish coffee worth $14 per kilogram. The mixture is to sell for $13 per kilogram.
Find how much of each should be used to make a 528-kilogram mixture.
-------------------
Quantity Equation: B + T = 528 kgr
Value Equation::: 10B+14T = 13*528
------------------------
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 10:
10B + 10T = 10*528
10B + 14T = 13*528
------
Subtract and solve for "T":
4T = 3*528
--------------
T = 3*132
T = 396 kgr (amt. of Turkish coffee needed)
-----
Solve for "B":
B + T = 528
B + 396 = 528
B = 132 kgr (amt of Brazilian coffee needed)
