Question 457196: hello, can someone help!
Fran swims at a speed of 2.2 km/h in still water. Lazy River speed of 0.8km/h
how long will it take Fran to swim 1.4 km upstream?

Answer by amoresroy(361)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Speed times time = distance
where speed = Speed in still water minus speed of river
= 2.2 - .8
= 1.4
Let t = the number of hours it will take Fram to swim 1.4 km upstream
t = distance / speed
t = 1.4/1.4
t = 1
It will take Fran 1 hour to swim 1.4 km upstream.
