Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let p = pounds of peanuts.
(2p+4.5*4)/(p+4) = 3
(2p+18)/(p+4) = 3
2p+18=3p+12
-p=-6
p=6 lbs.
