A baseball is hit into the air so that the number of feet s above the ground after t seconds is given by s=-16t^2+96t. How long will it take to first reach a height of 144 feet above the ground?
144=-16t^2+96t
-16t^2+96t-144=0
16t^2-96t+144=0
16(t^2-6t+9)=0
16(t-3)(t-3)=0
t=3 seconds is the only time the ball reaches a height of 144 ft.
