Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hot dogs ----$x
chips -------$y
...
2 x + 5 y = 7.75 .............1
4 x + 2 y = 9.5 .............2
multiply (1)by -2
Multiply (2) by 5
-4 x + -10 y = -15.5
20 x + 10 y = 47.5
Add the two equations
16 x + 0 y = 32
/ 16
x= 2
plug value of x in (1)
2 x + 5 y = 7.75
4 + 5 y = 7.75
5 y = 7.75 + -4
5 y = 3.75
y = 0.75
