Question 389997: Kayla's I.Q. is 27 points about Terry's. Their combined I.Q. score is 267. What is each of their I.Q. scores?
I've tried making th equation as :
K + T = 27
K + T = 267
But whenever I tried to solve it ( for T ) It ended up with a positive T minus a negative T , which didn't make sense. All I really need is to know how you set up the equation, from there I could solve.
Please and thank you for your help!
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you mean "Kayla's I.Q. is 27 points above (not about) Terry's", then this means that . You can then subtract T from both sides to get
So the equations are
K - T = 27
K + T = 267
