The sum of the digits of a certain two digit number is 6. If the original umber is subracted from the number formed by interchanging the digits the result is 36. Find the original number.
-----------
Let original number be 10t+u
----
Equations:
t + u = 6
10u+t - (10t+u) = 36
------------------------
Since t = 6-u, substitute for "t" and solve for "u":
10u + (6-u) -10(6-u)-u =36
10u + 6-u -60+10u -u = 36
18u - 54 = 36
18u = 90
u = 5
---
Since t = 6-u, t = 1
----
Original Number: 15
