Hi,
slope of the line containing the points (-2,1) and (3,-5)

(-2,1) and (3,-5)
m = (-5-1)/(3-(-2) = -6/5 is the slope

the standard point-slope form for an equation of a line y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.
equation of this line:
y = (-6/5)x + b Using ordered pair (-2,1) to solve for b
1 = (-6/5)*-2 + b
1 - 12/5 = b
-7/5 = b
y = (-6/5)x -(7/5)
