A 12-ounce can of frozen orange juice concentrate is mixed with 3 cans of cold water to obtain a mixture that is 10% juice. What is the percent of pure juice in the concentrate?

Let the percent of the concentrate be "x":
Equation:
concen + concen = concentrate
12x + 0*3 = 0.10(x+3)
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
1200x = 10x + 30
1190x = 30
x = 0.025 = 2.5% (percent of pure juice in the concentrate)
