Admission to a baseball game is $3.00 for general admission and $3.50 for reserved seats. The receipts were $2786.50 for 877 paid admission. How many of each tickets were sold?
Let the number of general admission tickets sold be x: sold for $3
So The reserved ticket sold will be the remaining part of 877 ticket
ie: 877-x sold for $3.5
Total receipts for the game was $2786.50
3x+ 3.5*(877-x)= 2786.50
3x+3069.50- 3.5x =2786.50
3x-3.5x= 2786.50-3069.50
-0.5x= -283
x= -283/ - 0.5 = 566
The general admission ticksts sold were 566
The reserved tickets sold were 877-566= 311
