Question 258706: MS. SMITH CAN EITHER BUY 6 APPLES AND 2 ORANGES FOR $1.50 OR 5 APPLES AND 4 ORANGES FOR $1.60. How much does one apple cost?
Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A-price of an apple
Q-price of an orange (O looks like 0 and might be confusing)
Multiply the first eq. by (-2) and add to the second to get rid of Q.
Then from eq. 1,
Apples are $0.20 a piece, oranges are $0.15 a piece.
