Question 25838: Icing on the Cake
There are 20 people at a birthday party.
The birthday cake is square.
It has icing all over the top and down all four rectangular sides.
The top of the cake is 20cm by 20 cm.
How should the cake be cut so that everyone has an equal share of the icing?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You would have to know the height of the cake.
Then you would find the area of the top and the
area of the sides. Add them to get the total
area of icing. Divide that number by 20 to
Some of the pieces will have icing on top and on
one side. The corners will have icing on top and
two sodes. I'll let you work that out, but you
must have been told how high the cake is.
Cheers,
Stan H.
