Let's say Will walked "x" miles.
Then Jackie walked "x+8" miles according
to your 1st sentence.
Also, Jackie walked "2x" miles according
to your second sentence.
It is not possible to determine how far
each of them walked.

8+x=3x
2x=8
x=4
2(4)=8
hence, Jackie walked 8miles and Will walked 4miles.
