Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How much pure iodine must be added to 250 mL of 8% iodine solution to get a 20% iodine solution?
------------------------------
Equation:
iodine + iodine = iodine
0.08*250 + x = 0.20(x+250)
----
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
8*250 + 100x = 20x + 20*250
80x = 12*250
x = 3.75 mL (amount of pure iodine needed for the mixture)
