Question 20384: Fred painted a room in 3 hours. Sally painted the same room in 2 hours. How long will it take them to paint the room together?

Think about this!
If Fred can paint the entire room in 3 hours, then he can paint 1/3 of the room in 1 hour.
If Sally can paint the same room in 2 hours, then she can paint 1/2 of the room in 1 hour.
Together, they can paint 5/6 (1/3 + 1/2 = 5/6) of the room in 1 hour.
Therefore, together they can paint the entire room 6/5 hours.
6/5 hours = 1 hour 12 minutes.
