X+2Y=1 MULTIPLY THIS EQUATION BY -2 & THEN ADD.
-2X-4Y=-2
2X-Y=-3
--------------------
-5Y=-5
Y=-5/-5
Y=1 ANSWER.
NOW SUBSTITUTE 1 FOR Y & SOLVE FOR X
X+2*1=1
X+2=1
X=1-2
X=-1 ANSWER.
PROOF
2*-1-1=-3
-2-1=-3
-3=-3
