Question 1059549: Computer is on sale for 20% off. I bought on sale for $400. How much did I save by buying on sale? Solve using algebraic expression.
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x is the retail price.
(x - .20 * x) = 400
.80 *x = 400
x = 400 / .80 = 500
the original price was 500
20% of 500 is equal to 100
subtract 100 from 500 and you get a discounted price of 400.
you saved 100 dollars.
