Question 495533: I have $9.45 in quarters and dimes in my pocket. The number of dimes is 18 less than twice the number of quarters. How many of each do I have in my pocket?
I tried but i keep getting stuck. This is what I tried doing:
dimes=18-2(quarters)
#of dimes + # of quarters=$9.45
(18-2(quarters)) + # of quarters= $9.45
18-3(quarters)=$9.45
-3(quarters)= -8.55
quarters=2.85
thats not possible
