v, the coin value of 1 coin.

9v, the amount of change, being nine coins.
9v=2+v, the value of the (all of them together) coins equals two added to ONE coin.

9v=v+2
9v-v=2
8v=2
v=1/4

This seems off. Bad if v is in cents, but meaning quarter of a dollar if v is in dollars.
