Question 995016: A jar filled with only dimes and quarters contains a total of 58 coins. The value of all the coins in the jar is $10.60. How many quarters are in the jar!
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d = number of dimes
q = number of quarters
d + q = 58
10d + 25q = 1060
Multiply the first equation by 25.
25d + 25q = 1450
-(10d + 25q = 1060)
-----------------------
15d = 390
d = 26
There are 26 dimes and 32 quarters.
