Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d = number of dimes
q = number of quarters

10d + 25q = 490
q = d + 7

Substitute the first equation into the second.

10d + 25(d + 7) = 490
10d + 25d + 175 = 490
35d = 315
d = 9

There are 9 dimes and 16 quarters.

Set the "7 more Q's" aside.
Then it's sets of 35 cents each worth 315 cents.
315/35 = 9
