Question 967523: A bill for $4.15 is paid in dimes and quarters only. If there are 4 fewer dimes than quarters, find the number of each kind of coins used to pay the bill?
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d = number of dimes
q = number of quarters
10d + 25q = 415
d = q - 4
10(q - 4) + 25q = 415
10q - 40 + 25q = 415
35q = 455
q = 13
There are 9 dimes and 13 quarters.
