Question 909677: Saul paid a bill of $4.60 with nickels, dimes, and quarters. The # of nickels was 3 less than the # of dimes. The #of dimes was 5 more than the # of quarters. How many coins of each type did he have?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
# dimes = x
# nickels = x-3
# quarters = x-5
15 dimes at .10 = 1.50
12 nickels at .05 = .60
10 quarters at .25 = 2.50
150 + 60 + 250 = 4.60
(I used estimation on the dimes and went from there)
