Question 905204: the total value of some nickels and dimes is $2.20. There are
36 coins in all. How many of each type of coin?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+c=36,
5*a+10*c=220
a=36-c
5*(36-c)+10*c=220
180-5c+10*c=220
5*c=40
c=8
a=36-c
a=28 at 5 and c=8 at 10
check
28+8=36
5*a+10*c=220
5*28+10*8=220
140+80=220
220=220
ok
