3D + 60 = 10Y [Three times Dolores' balance increased by 60 is ten times Dudley's balance.]
Substitute the known value of D from the first equation into the second.
3(3Y) + 60 = 10Y
9Y + 60 = 10Y
Subtract 9Y from each side
60 = Y
