A stack of quarters and dimes is worth $3.65, and contains a total of 23 coins. How many of each are there?
Quantity:: q+d= 23 coins
Value 0.25q + 0.1d= 3.65 dollars
-----
Modify for elimination:
25q + 25d = 25*23
25q + 10d = 365 cents
--------------------------------
Subtract and solve for "d":
15d = 210
d = 14 (# of dimes)
---------
Solve for "q":
q + d = 23
q + 14 = 23
q = 9 (# of quarters)
