If a purse contains 27 bills in 1 dollars and 5 dollars and its total value is 83 dollars, find the number of 1$ and 5$ in the purse

Let x = number of $5 bills
there are 27 bills, therefore
(27-x) = number $1 bills
:
The value equation
5x + 1(27-x) = 83
5x + 27 - x = 83
5x - x = 83 - 27
4x = 56
x = 56/4
x = 14 ea $5 bills
and
27-14 = 13 ea $1 bills
