Let x = no. of nickels
total coins is 55, therefore
(55-x) = no. quarters
:
.05x + .25(55-x) = 7.35
.05x + 13.75 - .25x = 7.35
.05x - .25x = 7.35 - 13.75
-.20x = -6.40
x = -6.4/-.2
x = +32 nickels
