Adam added 6 to a number and multiplied the results by NEGATIVE 3 and got 24. What is the number?
:
-3(n+6) = 24
-3n - 18 = 24
-3n = 24 + 18
-3n = 42
n has to be positive, mult both sides by -1
3n = -42
n = -42/3
n = -14

See if that works
-3(-14+6) =
-3(-8) = +24
