I have x $5 notes and y $10 notes.There are eight notes altogether and their total value is $55.How many of each note do I have?
------
Equation:
x + y = 8 notes
5x+10y= 55
----------------
Modify
x + y = 8
x +2y = 11
------
Subtract and solve for "y":
y = 3 (# of #10 notes)
---
x = 8-3 = 5 (# of #5 notes)
