Question 660897: One side of triangle is half the longest side. The third side is 12 feet less than the longest side. The perimeter is 73 . Find all three sides.
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = longest side
y = 1/2x
z = x - 12
x+y+x=73
Substitute all into the equation
x+1/2x+x-12 = 73
combine like terms
2 1/2x - 12 = 73
2 1/2x = 73+12
5/2x = 85
x = 85/(5/2)
x = 85(2/5)
x = 34
x = 34
y = 1/2(34) = 17
z = 34-12 = 22
