Let number of nickels be "x": Value of these is 5x cents
Number of pennies is "2x" : Value of these is 2x cents
Numper of dimes is "x/3": Value of these is 10(x/3)cents
Number of auarters is "8x":Value of these is 25(8x)=200x cents

EQUATION:
value + value+value+value = 2524 cents
5x+2x+(10x/3)+200x=2524
15x+6x+10x+600x=3*2524
631x=3*2524
x=12 (number of nickels.
2x=24 (number of pennies)
x/3=4 (number of dimes)
8x=96 (number of quarters)

Let the number of dimes be x.
So number of nickels = 3x.
Number of pennies = 6x
And number of quarters = 24x
Total amount in the jar = $25.24
= 2524 cents
Value of dimes = 10x
Value of nickels = 15x
value of quarters = 600x
Value of pennies = 6x
Thus 6x + 10x + 15x + 600x = 2524
==> 631x = 2524
==> 631x/631 = 2524/631
==> x = 4
Number of dimes = 4
Number of pennies = 24
Number of nickels = 12
Number of quarters = 96
