Question 581264: If someone has $73 with 1 and 5 dollar bills totaling 29 bills.How many 1 and 5 dollar bills do they have?
Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=number of 1 dollar bills
And let y=number of 5 dollar bills
Now we are told that:
x+y=29------------------------------eq1
and
x+5y=73-------------------------------eq2
subtract eq1 from eq2:
4y=44
y=11 number of 5 dollar bills
from eq 1:
x+11=29
x=18---------------number of 1 dollar bills
CK
18+55=73
73=73
and
11+18=29
29=29

Hope this helps---ptaylor
