If i have $3.35 in nickels and quarters, and i have 23 coings, how many of each do i have?

Equations:
n + q = 23 coins
5n+25q = 335 cents
-------------------------
5n + 5q = 5*23
5n + 25q= 335
-------
Subtract and solve for "q":
20q = 220
q = 11 (# of quarters)

Solve for "n":
n + q = 23
n + 11 = 23
n = 12 (# of nickels)
