Question 524222: You have 5 less than twice as many dimes than quarters. You have $4.90 in all. How many of each coin do you have?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Quarters =x
dimes = 2x-5
$4.90 = 490 cents
25x+10(2x-5)=490
25x+20x-50=490
45x=540
/45
x=12 quarters
dimes = 2x-5
=2*12-5
=19 dimes
check
19*10+25*12
190+300
=490
