.05n + .10d + .25q = 12.25
:

d = 2n + 5
:
"one less than three times as many quarters as nickles, "
q = 3n - 1

In the 1st equation replace d with (2n+5) and replace q with (3n-1)
.05n + .10(2n+5) + .25(3n-1) = 12.25
