Value Eq: 10d +5n = 550 cents

Multiply thru the Quantity Eq. by 5 to get:
5d + 5n = 5*82
10d + 5n = 550

Subtract and solve for "d":
5d = 140
d = 28 (# of dimes)

Solve for "n":
d+n = 82
28 + n = 82
n = 54 (# of nickels)
