Let x and (x+1)represent the amount Joel and Joe will receive respectively

Question states***

 x + (x+1) = 10pesos

Solving for x

   2x = 9

    x = 4.50 pesos, the amount Joel gets.  Joe gets 5.50 pesos

  4.50 + 5.50  = 10
