Write an equation for each statement:

n = d
we can also write this as, (get rid of those annoying fractions)
d = 3n
:
"he has a total of 2.45,"
.05n + .10d = 2.45
Replace d with 3n
.05n + .10(3n) = 2.45
.05n + .30n = 2.45
.35n = 2.45

n = 7 nickels
