Hi,
Let x represent the number of nickels. Number of dimes would then be (x+4)
Write as we Read
5x + 10(x+4) = 220cents
Simplify and Solve
5x + 10x + 40 = 220
15x = 180
x = 12 the number of nickels
12+4 = 16 the number of dimes
checking our answer
5*12 + 10*16 = 60 + 160 = 220cents
